Adventures in the life of a craftaholic....

It's been a while...so sorry.

It's been a while since I last posted - I've simply been super busy! Which is a good thing.

May was a busy month for myself and the ACCU. The Alamo City Craft Union participated, for the 2nd year in a row, in the King William's Fair - which was a great success for all of us. I'll post some pics soon.

Then Blanca Rosa (La Dama y La Nina), Erik (Texas Trash), Krista (Martini Mama), and I had booths at the South Texas ShowDown....and we had WAY TOO MUCH FUN...and sold a few things too!

Here's Blanca and I near the end of a long day in the sun...

I have been working hard to plan the DIY FACTORY...remember last year! 40 vendors, 7 bands, fashion show and 600 guests! It's going to be hard to top that, but I've a got a great crew together this year and I know that we can do it!

I also, just spent this last weekend up in Austin for the Texas Democratic State Convention - what an experience! I don't have time to go into detail here, but I might blog about it soon.

While I was in Austin I decided to take my newer merchandise out to a few shops...well long story short - you can now buy MISSY MAY'D at Flipnotics on Baron Springs @ S. Lamar. They have lots of great custom lines as well as some awesome vintage wear. You should soon be able to find my handbags and fashions on S. Congress as well. I will announce where as soon as the deal is finalized.

I will be out at Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar this Friday, with what merch I have left, plus a few new pieces that should be done by then! Stop by my booth and visit...hope to see ya' there!

King William Fair

Well it's Fiesta time again here in San Antonio. Quite honestly the only thing worth fighting through the crowds for is the King William Fair. Tons of great artisans, good food (mostly fried and served on a stick), a wide range of music, cold beer, lots of doggies, and even a parade! All stuffed into 8 hours the last Saturday of April! So, my suggestion to you, is even if you don't care to participate in any other Fiesta events (like myself), you should definitely make it out to the KWF...ya' never know who you might run into, and you might even enjoy yourself!

For the 2nd year in a row, I will be sharing a booth with my crafty buddies from the Alamo City Craft Union. We all do different types of work and you are bound to find something you "need"! Please come out and visit us this Saturday from 10am to 6pm. Our booth will be near the beginning of the parade route to the Southern most block of King William Street. This year we will be just a few booths down from the San Antonio Craft Mafia - so if we can't satisfy your crafty cravings, maybe they can!

Come check us out at KING WILLIAM FAIR!

New stuff on Etsy

I just finished posting some new stuff on Etsy, please go check it out if you have time.

Also, I have been super busy trying to get some vintage inspired playsuits/swimsuits done for all my upcoming shows. If you don't know me personally, you may not know that I have an incredible stash of vintage patterns that I love to look at and develop new ideas from. When I say stash, I don't mean like 20...I mean like 400 - 500! Yes, I know it's just one more obsession that I need to put a lid on!

Here are a few that I am looking at working with for a summer line:

Keep checking my blog and Etsy store, because these are going to be top-notch!

LoneStar RoundUp

We'll I've finally recovered from my weekend in Austin! Lonestar RoundUp was a blast, if you have never been you need to mark your calendars and make it out there next year.

I shared a booth with Krista (Martini Mama), Erik (Texas Trash), Blanca (La Dama y La Nina) and Sarah (Custom Made by Sarita). Unfortunately, Friday was a complete flop...the weather was wet, cold and extremely windy, but we persevered! This is the first year that the event was spread over 2 days. It doesn't make much sense to me, since most people were at work during that time...but oh - well, I hope it is back to just one day next year!

So, here I am the first day after getting my hair done by Lynn (Vintage Flair). She did an awesome job...I feel so pretty!

Krista got her hair done too! Doesn't she look beautiful!

Our booth went through several changes throughout the 2 days...

Friday night Erik, Krista and I cleaned up and headed out to S. Congress. The streets were lined with cars and there was live music everywhere...it was a great big rockabilly block party!

Like I said, everyone in Texas should go to Lonestar Round Up at least once...

Sometimes I do more than just SEW!

Well, for those of you that know me personally, you know that I live a very busy life...husband, son, friends, renovating a house, planning events, volunteering, etc. One of my other passions is politics if you didn't already know.

Earlier in March I was elected as my precinct's single delegate (we have a very small precinct!). So, I spent my whole Saturday this last weekend at the Senatorial County Convention...16 HOURS! It was totally chaotic, at sometimes exciting, but mostly disappointing that the "Texas 2-Step" Democratic Primary process is in such shambles...it really needs to be re-evaluate and revamped! There are simply too many problems to go into here, but I can't believe that this is how, as a Democratic Party, we elect our leaders.

So, anyways my 16 hours of waiting in lines, debating, being frustrated, and observing our community attempting come to some resolutions, paid off...I was elected as a Senatorial District (alternate) Delegate to the State Convention! I sure hope that the party has their stuff together by June when I get to Austin, because I don't know if I can handle 3 full days of what I experienced this last Saturday.

You can purchase this poster on Etsy (which is what I am about to do!) for only $15 from GeminiStudio. Or go to Etsy and search for Obama (or Hillary) for other neet-o hand made political items...everything from art prints to earrings! THIS IS CRAFTIVISM!

Lonestar Roundup

I am gearing up for Lonestar Roundup in a big 'ol Texas size way! I have a new line of dresses that I will debut as well as some western style leopard print wallets, checkbook covers, card holders and sunglass cases, as well as some cool new purse/totes made with tatto flash and pinup girl fabric. Look for pics soon! Of course, I'll have all my other usual stock including some additions to my line of Marilu purses...all original and all made utilizing vintage yardage (mostly curtain panels and upholstery).

April 4th & 5th (Friday & Saturday)
10am - 7pm both days.

Travis County Expo Center
Austin, TX

"What started out as a small gathering of like-minded gearheads, artists and musicians who love traditionally-styled Hot Rods and Kustoms, has grown into annual tradition here in Austin, Texas. Its a great big car show, its a killer music fest, its talented artists, pinstripers & shopping, its great food and cold drinks, its friends and families getting together - Its the Round Up, ya'll..."

I will be sharing a booth with La Dama y La Nina, Texas Trash, and Martini Mama.

There will be lots of other great vendors out there like...Poisoned Creations, The Texas Tarts, Tara to the T, Trophy Queen, Bad Bettie Designs will be doing professional photo shots, and Vintage Flair will be doing hair.
